#2: You are not supporting puppy mills
Animals for sale in pet stores are the result of what are known as "puppy mills". Puppy mills are factory style breeding facilities for dogs. The breeders do not care about the welfare of the animals, but only that they are able to continually produce puppies. These dogs are often severely traumatized from this experience. So, when you purchase a dog from the puppy store, you are supporting puppy mills. Although you may not actually be in favor of them, you are providing them with business every time you purchase an animal from a pet store instead of adopting one. This allows them to grow and prosper their businesses, abusing more dogs along the way.
Don't support puppy mills; adopt a pet.
